Rose Ann Miller, wife of Robert Miller CNA#53 passed from this life Jan. 15, 2010.  Condolences to Robert Miller family 2775 S Eaton Way,  Denver CO 80227-4113.

Nomad lovers,

Just a quick update on Larry Emery. The recovery from Guillain-Barre syndrome is going slow, but positive. I am walking around the house with no support tools. I use a cane outside the home for balance.

My hands are starting to come back very slowly. It has been a long 20 months.

I was so glad to be able to attend Boise.    This was a well put together Convention,                                Thanks to all involved.

When the hands are back, the Nomad will return as yellow as ever.

  Happy Holidays,

      Larry Emery  #716 Stayton, OR

Gary Wilson

Gary passed from this life to a better place Tuesday March 18, 2009.  Our love, condolences, and prayers go out to Tammy and the family.                 See obituary

Hello to our fellow Nomader's,
Thank you so much for caring about us and our recent storm.  The tornado was on the West and North side of Edmond and we happen to live on the East and a little South side of Edmond.  We live on a lake and somehow, the storms go around us.  We have been in paths of tornados before, and they break up before we get any damage.  I guess that we are lucky that way.
We did receive some rain, very little as a matter of fact.  We didn't receive any wind or storm damage.  We received some ice this year, but not enough to damage any trees or such.
Thank you all again for caring about us.  We have had many calls and emails from all over the U.S. and that lets us know that we are cared about.
See you in July.

Gary Wilson-2.05.2009

Things have been crazy with Gary!

As of the first of the year - Gary started having extreme abdominal pain. Dr. Villaflor Ordered a CT Scan on Jan. 16th and we went back to Chicago on Jan. 21st for the results.Dr. Villaflor said that Gary’s three spots on his right lung remained stable - they did not enlarge.

However, Gary’s cancer has moved to the right adrenal gland - about the size of a penny. So - since the cancer had progressed - Gary has to go off the chemo pill. She wanted him to wait four weeks and then try another chemo pill or IV chemo. Gary’s blood level showed his lipase & amylase levels were really high - so we came back home and went to the Emergency Room and Gary’s was admitted for Pancreatitis. Gary was in the hospital on IV fluids and a machine with Fentynal (Pain Medicine) until Jan. 24th. Then Gary came home and by Monday he was in severe pain again. All week it got worse so - we got blood work on Thursday and Friday they called and told me to take him back to the Emergency Room his lipase level was 1001. Apparently the Pancreatitis wasn’t gone.

So - Gary has been in the hospital here in Peoria since last Friday (Jan. 30th) with no food. Over the weekend his lipase went down to the 400’s and now it is back up to 588. On Saturday Jan. 31st they did a CT Scan and they said there is definitely Pancreatitis and that it showed a spot on the right adrenal gland (which we knew about) and it also showed another spot on the left adrenal gland and a spot on the left kidney. So - I got a copy of the CD with that CT Scan and I overnited it to Dr. Villaflor in Chicago for her to compare to the CT Scan done on Jan. 16th.    When we saw Dr. Villaflor back at the beginning of Dec. and she gave Gary 6 months to 2 years - I PRAY that what time he has here won’t be like the past two weeks have been! Because so far up until this - Gary has been a fighter and these past two weeks have been extremely hard on Gary - he is SUPER depressed!

I have been running in circles.....trying to be at the hospital because I don't want Gary to be there alone, getting the kids to school, sports & activities and for the kids to see Gary too! Oh - and trying to work in the mean time!

Thank you to all for the wonderful support you have given to our family through all of this - WE all truly appreciate everything  everyone has done.

 Tammy

The latest on Gary Wilson    received 1.23.2009

Yesterday was insane!!!! We got to Chicago about 1:00 and Gary got his blood work done. His appt. was at 2:00. We finally saw the doctor at 4:30. Gary had been having severe abdominal pain for about two weeks and he was in severe pain when we finally saw the doctor. The blood levels and CT scan shows Gary has pancreatitis. The doctor said Gary needed to be hospitalized for the pancreatitis. So, they gave him some medicine because he was vomitting due to the pain level and gave him some pain meds and we left Chicago about 6:30. We got home at 9:30 and I took him to the Emergency Room at 10:00. I finally got him admitted at 3:00 am. The oncologist said that his CT Scans = the good news is = the three spots on the lung remained stable - no change (maybe a tiny bit of shrinkage). However, the BAD news is = Gary has a new nodule on his adrenal gland (which is located at the top of the kidney). So, since the cancer has progressed and moved. Gary has to go off the chemo pill. His doctor really wants him to try another pill, or to do IV chemotherapy in Chicago. Gary has to go off this pill for four weeks before he can do anything else. So, the doctor said for Gary to be hospitalized and get the pancreatitis under control - then we can discuss his decision about if he wants to try another chemo pill or IV chemotherapy.I am not sure if we are going to get to go to Disney - Gary is pretty weak right now and our finances are not really looking towards us getting to go........We are still trying to figure out what would be best!

I just recently received the following email concerning Larry & Nancy Emery #716

This is for information of a long time Nomad owner.
Larry Emery from Stayton Oregon ( yellow 55 ) went on vacation to Spain & Morroco in March 08, upon return flight home he became ill.
When arriving home he went to E.R. and was diagnosed with Camplobacter bacteria. A few days into treatment for this, he started losing mobility, with severe joint pain.
Again to the E. R. with a night in the local hospital. The next morning it was an ambulance ride to OHSU Oregon health sciences Univ.in Portland Oregon.
Being admitted to ICU for 4 days and another 10 days for observatoin. He was treated for Gilliam Bara' syndrum.
At this point Larry was paralized from the elbows down, and the hips down.
He then went to a skilled nursing facility in Mt. Angel, Oregon until June 25th 08, for rehab and care.
Now in 09, Larry is starting to walk with a walker (with help),some arm movement, but no hand use yet.
  Rehab is working.
Now the important part. Nancy has been such a godsend to all of this, she doesn't leave his side, except when one of the kids might take over for a while. We must all pray for both of them, and a complete recovery for Larry.

News from the Grapevine

Just heard(8/13)  that Ray Clarke's surgery went well and he thinks it was successful.  More as it becomes available.

Greetings from the Robertsons in Pulaski, MS

She has arrived.  Breanna Christine Rushing - 6 lbs 6 ozs  - 19" long - beautiful.  She wasn't due until August 20 but Mother (Marcelina) started contractions much too early.  Her doctors confined her to complete bed rest for 5 weeks.  On July 22, while we were at the Nomad Nationals in West Virginia, the doctors decided to let nature take its course expecting the baby to arrive any day.  She waited until 1:37 PM July 30 to make her arrival.  Mother and daughter are doing great - expect to go home from St. Dominic's Hospital today.  Big sister, Hailey, stayed with Ed & me.  We had our hands full with an 18 month old and enjoyed every minute of it.  Children are a blessing from God - grand children are grand but just wait until you have great grand children.  They are truly great.

God is good.  Our prayers were answered.  The baby is perfect and Marcelina had no problems with labor and delivery this time.  Thanks for remembering our family in your prayers.

Mary

Hello from Tennessee
I suppose you all wonder why you haven't heard anything from me since we got to TN.  We got down here on the 29th of Jan.  I was having such terrible pain with my hip I went to the emergency room, they Xrayed it found out that the hip socket had broken though and the bones were rubbing together ,so I was admitted to the hospital under morphine for 3 days they transferred to a nursing rehab facility where I have been ever since.  They are giving me a lot of therapy to just tide me over until I can have surgery, which I won't be able to have until they make a special part, and they say it could be up to 6 months.  They took a scan from which they make a mold then it goes someplace else to the prosthesis, there are only 3 places in the US that does this.  This isn't much fun to look forward to living like this, I'm hoping I will be able to get by with someone coming in the day, as I am unable to put any weight on my right leg and it has to be in traction most of the time to try to keep the leg bone from pushing up into the intestinal area.  They let me come come this afternoon for a few hours, and I will have to be going back soon, I will try to keep you updated on what is going on as I can. I wish I could have my computer at the hospital but I don't have a laptop, so will just do the best I can when I get to come home

  Dear CNA

It is with great regret that I inform you, as an organization and as a wonderful group of friends, that Shirley Mason, my wife of 52 years passed on October 8, 2006.

She fought the good battle, even going to Sedona AZ, although she was wracked with pain.  She just wanted to see all of her "Nomader" friends one more time.  We included her in everything that she could physically do, and she loved it.

Thanks for all the good memories she had with the club and it's members.

Happy 50th Anniversary

Ed & I were married November 21, 1956

We'll be celebrating next month

We finally purchased another nomad - 1955 red.  It's not a show car.  Doesn't compare with the '57 we had but as Ed says, "it's a nomad".

(check it out-members cars)

He's working on getting it road worthy so we can drive wherever and whenever.  We still enjoy seeing the USA in our Chevrolet.

Looking forward to seeing y'all in San Antonio next summer.  The Nomad convention is always a part of our summer plans.

Mary Robertson
