Nancy & Grant

Our 1956 Nomad was delivered to a Chevrolet dealer in Studio City, California.  The original owner purchased it from them.  In the late 1960’s it was sold to Bill (2nd owner) who than moved to, Nevada.  It would remain in his family for the next 40 years.  In the mid 1970’s Bill decided to paint the Nomad yellow and white to match a boat he owned.    Wish he would have painted the boat instead, his cousin Jim told us when we brought the car.                                   In 1987 Bill tired of the car and was going to junk it.  His sister Bonnie said no way and he gave it to her.  She drove it for a while and parked it.  Mice got in it and destroyed the interior, so the car just sat.  Cousin Jim from Newport, Minnesota wanted it but Bonnie wanted to keep it.  Finally in September 2008 she called Jim and said it was coming to Minnesota.  Jim was 65 by than and really didn’t want to take on the task of restoring it but he took it.                     Jim worked on it taking out the 265cu. in. motor and powerglide transmission and rebuilt them.  He also redid the exhaust, brakes, drive shaft, and reupholstered the front and rear seat back to original.  He decided to sell it. We saw the ad on Memorial Day, May 30, 2011 it was just 4 miles from our house.  We really liked it and purchased it from Jim.  We are the third owners. All the stainless trim is there and it is a complete car.  It is in remarkable condition. We will finish the interior and paint it in the original Sierra Mist and Beige.
